theSedge Social Innovation Weekend will bring social innovators together to create new social enterprises in just 1.5 days!

 

BY THE END OF THE WEEKEND YOU WILL:

    • be introduced to an overview of social enterprise and social entrepreneurship (including definitions, examples and scope).
    • explore social enterprise business frameworks to better understand which framework will be the best fit for your social impact idea.
    • learn how to use the business model canvas adapted specifically for social enterprise as a tool for planning projects.
    • form working groups of 5 – 7 to work on a specific social enterprise project throughout the weekend.
    • present social enterprise projects at the end of the weekend for the chance to win great prizes.
    • leave the Social Innovation Weekend feeling empowered with the practical knowledge and community connections needed to implement successful social enterprises!

The event will be held at Facultad de Economía y Negocios, Universidad de Chile. (Diagonal Paraguay 205 / 257, Santiago, Chile) on December 13th – 14th, 2013. The cost to attend is CLP 9.000 and includes snacks, refreshments, dinner on Friday and breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday.

5:00 – 6:00 pm: Meet & Greet

6:00 – 6:30 pm: Introduction to Social Enterprise

6:30 – 7:00 pm: Types of Social Enterprise Frameworks with case study examples

7:00 – 7:30 pm: 2 Social Entrepreneurs share their stories

7:30 – 8:00 pm: Idea and pitch preparation/ Break / Light dinner

8:00 – 9:00 pm: One minute pitch of a social business or social enterprise idea

9:00 – 9:20 pm: Voting (attendees vote on their favourite business ideas)

9:20 – 9:45 pm: Voting for top 10 – 15 ideas.  Groups of 5 – 7 are formed.

 

Saturday December 14, 2013

8:30 – 9:30 am: Breakfast

9:30 – 10:00 am: Social Business Model Canvas presentation

10:00 – 1:00 pm: Group work on business model canvas

1:00 – 2:30 pm: Lunch Presentation

2:30 – 6:00 pm: Group work on idea prototyping and market validation

6:00 – 7:00 pm: Groups prepare for presentations

7:00 – 8:00 pm: Dinner and Guest Speaker (to be announced)

8:00 – 9:00 pm: Group presentations where ideas are pitched

9:00 – 9:45 pm: Judging, prizes and wrap up.

10:30pm – After party! (Location to be decided)

JUDGES:

The Social Innovation Weekend will finish with each team presenting their social enterprise ideas to a panel of judges for the chance to win the following great prizes!

The Social Innovation Weekend has partnered with several amazing mentors who each have a unique background and experience with Social Entrepreneurship. Mentors will be available over the course of the weekend to help guide the development of your teams’ social enterprise ideas!
